Chief Financial Officer, Consultant
Abbie Speyrer serves as a consultant and chief financial officer for Emergent Method, where she maintains oversight over the firm’s financials and is responsible for functions ranging from payroll and office management to contract management and financial modeling. Her expertise lies in financial management, internal audit and assurance, and business and risk management functions.
Abbie’s previous experience includes serving as a consulting manager at Postlethwaite & Netterville, where she concentrated within the area of internal audit and assurance within the firm’s consulting practice and assisted with reviews of governmental claims processing procedures and reviews of internal controls. In addition, Abbie recently served as an internal audit manager for Amedisys, Inc., where she supervised financial and operational internal audit engagements that covered different aspects of the business, provided maintenance and review of continuous auditing procedures developed using ACL software.
She began her career as a staff accountant at Jamison, Money, Farmer and Co., PC in Tuscaloosa, Alabama before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Associate in the firm’s external audit function, where she worked with a number of private- and publicly-held clients primarily focused within the healthcare and technology industries. During work on her assigned audits, Abbie developed detailed audit strategies for year-end and interim audits, quarterly reviews and SEC reporting for both publicly traded and privately held clients while performing extensive planning that included business and fraud risk analysis and consideration of internal controls.
Abbie graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, and earned her Masters in Accountancy from the University of Alabama.
Abbie is a registered member of both the Institute of Internal Auditors and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
