JOB DESCRIPTION
Emergent Method is seeking a dynamic professional to serve our team as an Accounting & Finance Associate. Serving as a critical member of the firm’s administrative team, this individual will ensure various accounting and financial needs are met accurately and diligently for the internal team, as well as the firm’s clients.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting various accounting, financial, and operational tasks, preferably within the private sector. This person must be organized, have a keen attention to detail, and be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, often under a tight timeframe. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain and utilize company systems to ensure accuracy of information, build and generate reports, and analyze information
- Manage the setup, maintenance, and closeout of projects and team members in various systems
- Review, approve, and resolve any discrepancies related to financial and time entries in our and client systems to ensure all are recorded correctly
- Perform financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting, for both internal team members and clients
- Make recommendations for optimization and efficiency related to internal processes and procedures
- Identify and drive internal process improvements, including the creation of dashboards as well as standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and systems
- Collaborate with project managers, team members, and clients on the invoicing and accounts receivable processes
- Record financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all vendor, subcontractor, and other expenses
- Create and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports as well as Excel dashboards
- Support various business operational needs and provide additional support to team members and clients, as needed
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- At least 2 years of related experience within the private sector and/or public accounting firm
- Understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Experience in financial operations / analysis, or other business responsibilities
- Proficient in MS Office, and strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or ADP preferred
- Organized with an extreme attention to detail
- Strong quantitative and analytical competency
- Positive attitude dedicated to client and customer service
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients, both written and orally
- Problem solver who is comfortable working and figuring out issues independently with minimal guidance
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and capacity to prioritize work
- Strong organizational and planning skills, and ability to work independently
