JOB DESCRIPTION
Emergent Method is seeking a dynamic accounting professional to serve our team as an Accounting & Human Resources Associate. This individual serves as a critical member of the firm’s administrative team, ensuring various accounting and human resource needs are met accurately and diligently for the internal team, as well as the firm’s clients. The ideal candidate has experience supporting various accounting, human resource, and operational tasks, preferably within the private sector. This person must be organized, have a keen attention to detail, and be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, often under a tight timeframe. This is a full-time, permanent position located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain ownership of invoicing and accounts receivable processes, including creating invoices and financial reports, applying payments received, and investigating billing and payment discrepancies
- Collaborate with project managers, team members, and clients to generate invoices accurately and on time
- Manage time entry and reconciliation of project invoices in client systems to ensure accurate billing information
- Support accounts payable and expense reconciliation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all vendor, subcontractor, and other expenses
- Oversee and prepare bi-weekly payroll reports, including obtaining hours worked and employee reimbursements, calculating overtime and other payroll considerations, maintaining payroll deductions, and entering all information for processing
- Support human resource efforts by coordinating candidate interviews, organizing resumes and other hiring information, assisting with offer letters and onboarding paperwork, maintaining personnel files and records, and serving as a liaison between consultants and the administrative team
- Support various information technology tasks, which may include setting up hardware and software for new employees, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining all software licenses
- Create and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports as well as Excel dashboards
- Provide additional support to team members and clients, as needed
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 2+ years of related experience within the private sector and/or public accounting firm
- Understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
- Experience in invoicing, payroll processing, or other business responsibilities
- Proficient in MS Office, and strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or ADP preferred
- Extreme attention to detail
- Strong quantitative and analytical competency
- Positive attitude dedicated to client and customer service
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients, both written and orally
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to resolve discrepancies by working well with others to ensure adherence to policies and procedures
- Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, and capacity to prioritize work

- Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
