JOB DESCRIPTION
Emergent Talent, a division of Emergent Method, is seeking qualified candidates to support a large-scale disaster recovery effort performed in central and north Louisiana. This is a part-time internship position that may lead to full-time employment after one year. Recent graduates will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate must be flexible, able to work in a fast-paced environment, adept in handling a wide range of tasks, comfortable with learning and using various forms of technology and systems, and willing to embrace the challenges associated with complex disaster recovery efforts.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Support team members performing disaster management activities associated with recent disasters
- Consolidate and analyze financial datasets and applications to identify inconsistencies and promote efficient operations
- Conduct research, synthesize findings, and deliver summaries to key stakeholders
- Develop a thorough understanding of client needs and maintain open communication with client, management, and team members
- Process activities in a timely manner, consistent with required quality controls
- Perform other duties as assigned by the client or manager that contribute to goals and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements for this position include the following:
- Pursuit or recent completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, political science, mathematics, or a related field
- Ability to work a schedule of approximately 20 to 35 hours per week
- Experience with prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and work objectives
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and data management (Pivot Tables, VLookup, And/IF functions)
- Ability to travel to work sites as necessary to perform required tasks
- Proficiency with research and application of rulesets to business problems
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with several stakeholders working towards a common goal
- High level of professionalism and integrity to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, with strong experience in Microsoft Excel
- Strong ability to write clearly, succinctly, and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to succinctly report data for management and decision-making
Other preferred (but not required) qualifications:
- Experience with FEMA Public Assistance Grants
- 0-1+ year of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas—risk management, crisis management, or grants management
